What is The Quarry?
A discipleship experience
Located in Montrose, Colorado, “The Quarry” is a twelve-month, full-time training school. The goal of The Quarry is to help the students further develop their relationship with God, themselves, and others.
In training future leaders, we believe that hearing God’s voice and developing an intimacy with Him is essential. The Quarry will provide instruction and opportunities to learn skills necessary to maintain an intimate relationship with God, to understand His plans and purposes for the students' lives, and to help equip them to live a lifestyle of obedience to His Word.
The Quarry will provide foundational Biblical teaching with real life application. Students will serve with other ministries in the community. They will also be involved in local area youth programs, evangelistic outreaches, worship, and intercession.
We feel it is important as Christians to pray for our nation and for the nations of the world. The Quarry provides opportunities to learn about and visit other nations. As we invest time, energy, and prayers, we develop a heart for the nations and enlarge our world view.
The Quarry will provide opportunities to develop the students' creativity using different art forms. Worship as a lifestyle includes cultivating the gifts and talents God has given us.
The Quarry uses a “three generational” approach to discipleship. Each generation is unique in its giftings, knowledge, and wisdom. Daily the students will glean from those of different generations.
FAQ's
What is The Quarry? The Quarry is a twelve-month discipleship experience. It is more than a school. It is a living, day by day, 24/7 opportunity to be discipled. This is worship as a lifestyle: learning, working, living, relaxing, praying together, and taking advantage of teachable moments. Jesus said, “Come follow Me”. The Quarry is an opportunity to learn from others who have walked the walk in a “come follow me” style of mentoring. The Quarry will also include outreaches for the students to participate in fulfilling The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
What would a typical day look like? Mornings will be devoted to relevant biblical teaching in a classroom setting. In the afternoon the students will be sent out as volunteers to various ministries. There will also be the opportunity to prepare meals, clean, and maintain The Quarry facility. The evenings will be devoted to intercession and worship. Weekends will have ministry opportunities, church, and free time.
Do we do any evangelism or outreaches? There will be two outreaches during The Quarry 2008. The first will be an outreach to our nation, the East Coast of the
U.S.
, including “The Call DC II”* held in
Washington
,
D.C.
The second will be a local/regional outreach.
*For more information on “The Call DC II” visit www.thecall.com.
How are these outreaches paid for? The East Coast outreach is paid for by the initial payment of $2,000.00 as discussed in the financial payment schedule. The second outreach will be your responsibility to raise transportation costs and a portion of your ground fees not already covered in your monthly fees. Those amounts would be determined depending on where we are going. Ample time will be made to raise the money. We will work with you to trust God for His provision for the second outreach. We consider this to be a part of learning to trust Him corporately and individually. God provides creatively. He is not limited when it comes to His plans for our lives.
How much does The Quarry cost? The cost for The Quarry 2008 is $6,500.00. Two thousand dollars, ($2,000.00) is due upon arrival. Beginning September 1st, students pay five hundred dollars ($500.00) per month for the next nine months. This cost does not include personal expenses (i.e. toiletries, snacks, personal transportation, gifts, clothing, etc.).
Can I pay it all at once? Yes, certainly. We have set up the payment schedule this way to give you the opportunity to establish a monthly support team. This will relieve you of having to come up with the whole amount at once.
Is there financial aid available? Unfortunately, at this time there is no financial aid available. We will provide you with a letter verifying your acceptance into The Quarry and the financial requirements so that you can send it to those who may support you.
Can I have time for a part-time job to help with my financial needs? No, we will be keeping you very busy. Please set up your support base before you come.
